The Derby

The Kentucky Derby is coming up this Saturday, as well as Mother's Day on Sunday. I've always loved the big floppy hats decked out with bows and flowers and frills, as well as the beautiful dresses and high heels. My best friend Haley influenced me to do this post, she has a love for horses and has an amazing, classic style! Maybe some day we'll be sipping mimosas at the Kentucky Derby and I'll be pretending I know who to bet on (She actually will know). These are a couple outfits I can picture the women of The Derby wearing. Cheers!

Rejoice or repeat?

This week, as a country and world,we were shocked with the news that long-time threat, enemy and Al Qaeda leader, Osama Bin Laden had been killed. After ten years since the marking of the act of September 11th, we have committed to a war that has killed thousands, experienced a new subject of racial profiling as well as installing a constant fear in the minds of us all. After this ten year long cat and mouse chase of the master mind of the Al Qaeda operation, the death of Bin Laden has shown a mark of progress we have made towards the end of an era of war, broken hearts and fear. I support our countries decisions on every level, and understand the excitement of the over-due termination of a crucial contributor,if not, sole brain washer of the terrorist acts upon our country.I can't help but feel a sense of confusion in the middle of the rejoicing of death of one man who has created our foremost decision to go to war, taking many lives of our own for the work towards peace.

is this peace?
